Disclaimer & DisclosuresLicensing, referrals and how we are paid
Please read these disclosures before acting on information from this website or engaging Broadmoor for insurance, mortgage or investment-related services.

1. Not advice
Information on this website is general and educational. It is not tax, legal, accounting, insurance, mortgage or investment advice, and should not be relied on without advice about your own circumstances. Tax rules, government program limits and lender criteria change; figures on this site are believed accurate as of the date shown above but may be out of date when you read them.
2. Accounting and tax services
Broadmoor provides bookkeeping, tax preparation, payroll, compilation of financial statements and related services. Where a team member holds a professional designation (such as CPA), it is stated with their name. Audit and review engagements are reserved to CPA firms licensed for public accounting in Alberta; where you need one, we will refer you to a licensed firm. We represent you with the CRA only with your written authorization.
3. Insurance
In Alberta, insurance may only be sold or advised on by individuals and agencies licensed by the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC). Insurance products described on this website are arranged only through AIC-licensed individuals. Home, auto and other property and casualty insurance require a general insurance licence and are arranged by, or referred to, a licensed general insurance broker or agent. You can confirm any licence using the AIC's public licensee search. Insurance advisors are usually paid commission by the insurer, and may receive bonuses or other incentives; we will disclose the insurers an advisor represents and how they are compensated before you apply.
4. Mortgages
Mortgage brokering in Alberta is regulated by the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) under the Real Estate Act. Broadmoor is not a licensed mortgage brokerage and does not arrange, negotiate or deal in mortgages. We provide general information and prepare the financial documents lenders require; when you are ready to apply, we refer you to a RECA-licensed brokerage, which we identify in writing before the referral. Rates and terms are set by lenders and are subject to approval. If Broadmoor receives a referral fee, we will tell you before you proceed.
5. Investments
Trading in or advising on securities, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and stocks, requires registration with the Alberta Securities Commission and, for most dealers, membership in the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). Broadmoor's accounting team provides general information about registered plans (RRSP, TFSA, RESP, FHSA, LIRA/LIF) and their tax treatment. Specific investment recommendations and trades are made only by registered representatives of a registered firm, who will assess your circumstances ("know your client") before making a recommendation. You can check any registration through the CSA National Registration Search.
6. Referrals and conflicts of interest
When we introduce you to an insurance, mortgage, investment, legal or other professional, we will tell you the name of the firm and whether we receive a referral fee or other benefit. You are never obliged to use a professional we suggest. If a conflict of interest arises, we will disclose it and explain how it is managed.
7. Business financing and estate planning
We help clients prepare for financing applications (for example with BDC or lenders under the Canada Small Business Financing Program); lending decisions are made by the lender. Wills, powers of attorney, personal directives and trust documents must be prepared by a lawyer. Insolvency proceedings such as consumer proposals and bankruptcies can only be administered by a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.
8. Testimonials, ratings and logos
We publish client reviews only with the client's consent and only if they are genuine and unedited apart from minor corrections. Any ratings or client statistics we display will be current and verifiable. Logos of insurers and other companies identify firms our licensed partners may work with; they are trademarks of their owners and do not imply endorsement of Broadmoor.
9. Calculators
Mortgage calculations assume a fixed interest rate compounded semi-annually (the usual Canadian convention) and monthly payments, and exclude default insurance premiums, taxes and fees. The life insurance calculator uses a simplified needs-based method. Results are estimates only.
