Broadmoor Accounting & Financials respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Who we are and how to contact us
Broadmoor Accounting & Financials ("Broadmoor", "we", "us") is located at 12 Blackfoot Road, Unit #6, Sherwood Park, Alberta T8A 4P4. Our Privacy Officer is responsible for our compliance with this policy and can answer questions about how we, or our service providers outside Canada, handle personal information:

2. Information we collect
Through this website
- Contact forms: your name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, your preferred contact method and your message.
- Calculators: figures you enter into our calculators are processed in your browser only. They are not sent to us or stored.
- Technical information: our website host and the third-party services listed in section 5 may automatically receive technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
When you become a client
To provide accounting, tax and related services we collect the information needed for the engagement โ for example your Social Insurance Number, date of birth, income and tax slips, bank and investment statements, business records and information about your spouse or dependants. We collect this directly from you, or from third parties (such as the CRA) with your authorization.
Please do not send your SIN, account numbers or tax documents through our website form, email or WhatsApp. We will give you a secure way to share them.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and arrange a consultation.
- To provide the services you engage us for, including preparing and filing returns and communicating with the CRA and Alberta Tax and Revenue Administration on your behalf when you authorize it.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping requirements.
- With your separate express consent only, to send you newsletters or other commercial electronic messages. You can unsubscribe at any time, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
4. Consent
By submitting a contact form you consent to our using the information you provide to respond to you. For client engagements we obtain your consent in our engagement letter. You may withdraw consent at any time on reasonable notice, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services.
5. Service providers and transfers outside Canada
We use service providers to operate this website and our practice. Some are located outside Canada, so your information may be stored or processed in other countries (including the United States) and may be accessible to authorities there under local law. These providers include:
- Web3Forms โ delivers contact-form submissions to our email inbox.
- GitHub Pages โ hosts this website.
- Google โ supplies the map on our Contact page and the fonts used on this website.
- WhatsApp (Meta) โ if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
- Business software providers โ our email and cloud storage, secure document-exchange and accounting/tax preparation software providers, some of which may store data outside Canada. A current list is available from our Privacy Officer on request.
Our Privacy Officer (section 1) can answer questions about how these service providers handle personal information.
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to provide services you request (for example with the CRA, or โ with your consent โ with a licensed insurance, mortgage or investment partner you ask to be introduced to), with our service providers, or where required or permitted by law.
7. Retention and safeguards
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal requirements. Tax records are generally kept for at least six years after the end of the tax year to which they relate, as the CRA requires. We protect information with physical, administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, and securely destroy it when no longer needed.
8. Privacy breaches
If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as required by PIPA.
9. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Send a written request to our Privacy Officer. We will respond within the time required by law (generally 45 days under PIPA). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.
